Landscape Architecture Specification Rep

TPL Lighting is seeking an experienced, highly motivated sales professional to join our team, specifically responsible for identifying and developing new opportunities within the landscape architecture space. This is a unique opportunity that offers career independence and control within a company that offers ample support to help ensure success. The ideal candidate will have specific Landscape Architectural education or related experience before transitioning into a sales role calling on end-users in the Architectural & Design community. Must have strong contacts in the A&D community to be considered for this role especially as relating to Landscape Architectural firms.

Beyond stellar sales skills, the ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • Strong, experience-based understanding of the A&D community; proven success working with architects, contractors, designers, landscape architects, facility owners and other specifiers.
  • Experience with exterior lighting a plus.
  • The ability to craft technical, "substitution-proof" specifications and follow them throughout the bidding and ordering cycle
  • In-depth knowledge of specifiers' needs, requirements, and concerns, and the ability to offer creative solutions to their challenges.
  • The ability to prioritize multiple tasks and projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Enjoy working in a collaborative, entrepreneurial environment and engaging team members throughout the organization to accomplish a common goal
  • Experience in the lighting industry would be an asset but not required
  • Candidates must already hold Canadian work eligibility


  • Achieve maximum sales profitability and account penetration with an assigned territory by primarily promoting and selling TPL’s outdoor line of manufacturers to the Landscape Architecture community.
  • Personally contact and secure new customers and maintain relationship with existing accounts, maintaining a professional image of the company.
  • Promote represented products, sell and secure orders from existing and prospective customers through a relationship-based approach.
  • Demonstrate products from represented manufacturers to existing and potential clients, ensuring a full knowledge base of the products and their benefits.
  • Products are to be taken to market with professionalism, knowledge and passion.
  • Assist clients in specifying the products suited to the project(s) being worked on, ensuring all client and project needs are met.
  • Plan and organize personal sales strategy, ensuring maximum ROI.
  • Participate in trade shows and other promotional avenues.
  • Keep abreast of all new products, applications for products, technical data, market conditions, competitor activity and trends.
  • Give oral and written reports when required, on customer needs, problems, interests, competitive activities and potential for future growth.
  • Expedite the resolution of client problems and complaints.
  • Coordinate sales efforts with inside sales staff and sales management team, as project moves through TPL from specification to delivery.
  • ​Assist inside sales staff to acquire project specific information by contacting the landscape architect, general contractor, electrician or distributor, as required.
  • Make site visits and attend site meetings as required, to aid the electrician or general contractor on installation, wiring or other general questions and/or concerns.
