Andreu World at The Adelaide Project by TPL

A carbon-neutral furniture leader transforms TPL’s Toronto lighting studio into a collaborative, sustainability-driven design experience

Andreu World has taken over The Adelaide Project by TPL, launching a multi-month residency running through July 2026. The Valencia-based furniture company, now over 70 years old, brings with it a rigorous approach to sustainability and a distinctly Mediterranean sensibility rooted in colour, material, and longevity.

Recognized as the first in its industry to certify its entire collection as carbon neutral, Andreu World operates with a closed-loop mindset. The company uses FSC-certified wood exclusively, is B Corp–certified and continues to push material innovation through TP Bio® – plant-based bioplastics that eliminate reliance on petroleum. Its furniture reflects that ethos: contemporary yet enduring, expressive yet grounded in nature.

Placed throughout The Adelaide Project house in intuitive, often playful compositions, key pieces invite closer inspection. The Bolete coffee table appears impossibly light, its curvaceous base formed from bioplastic. The Sir leather sofa offers a tactile study in precision tailoring. Nearby, the Valencia stool reads like driftwood, though it is entirely 3D printed from 100% biodegradable BIO thermo-polymer and crushed natural cork. Designed by Patricia Urquiola and inspired by a natural disaster in the Valencia region, proceeds from the stool support reconstruction efforts and local communities. Each piece underscores Andreu World’s commitment to craft, experimentation, and responsible production – an approach grounded in material innovation and social impact.

Collaboration is central to that approach. The brand regularly partners with leading international designers, offering creative freedom within a strict framework of sustainable materials and manufacturing. That philosophy aligns closely with The Adelaide Project’s mission. As TPL’s experiential lighting studio, the space is designed to bring together like-minded manufacturers, encouraging a mix-and-match approach that reflects real-world specification.

The current residency layers hospitality-driven interior design with architectural lighting solutions. Visitors will encounter new installations from Absolux, Bover, Deltalight and Luxxbox, alongside fixtures from recently introduced brands Kendila and Panzeri. Floor coverings by Mohawk and Canadian artwork curated through Arterial complete the experience, reinforcing the role of lighting, material, and object in shaping atmosphere.

Open Thursdays from 10AM to 4PM, or by appointment, the residency offers a hands-on opportunity to explore the latest in architectural lighting, discover Andreu World’s forward-thinking furnishings, and consider how furniture, rugs, and art can be specified together.
