Sequencer by RBW: A Modular Lighting System Designed to Scale
Developed with Toronto-based MSDS Studio, Sequencer gives designers a modular way to create rhythm, atmosphere, and visual continuity across a project.
Sequencer™, one of the newest releases from RBW, gives designers and specifiers a flexible lighting platform that adapts to projects of varying scale, complexity and character.
Developed in collaboration with Toronto-based MSDS Studio, Sequencer moves beyond the traditional pendant, functioning instead as a modular lighting system that can evolve alongside the architecture it illuminates.
A System Built for Design Flexibility
Sequencer is available in multiple sizes with one, two, and four-head arrangements, allowing it to be specified as a standalone fixture or expanded into large-scale compositions that create visual continuity throughout a project.
This flexibility allows designers to develop a consistent lighting language across a variety of spaces, from intimate hospitality settings to expansive commercial interiors, workplaces, educational facilities, and public environments.
Creating Atmosphere Through Diffused Light
Sequencer was designed to create a softer, more atmospheric lighting experience. Its open and closed glass diffusers reduce the emphasis on directional downlighting, producing a more comfortable glow that supports both visual interest and ambiance.
When repeated across an installation, the fixture’s geometric forms establish rhythm, structure, and a strong graphic presence. The result is lighting that contributes to the architecture of a space, rather than simply illuminating it.
For specifiers, this offers the opportunity to balance decorative expression with functional performance while maintaining visual consistency across a project.
Designed in Collaboration with MSDS Studio
Sequencer was developed with Toronto-based design practice MSDS Studio, led by Jessica Nakanishi and Jonathan Sabine. Known for their thoughtful approach to materiality, craftsmanship, and contemporary design, MSDS collaborated closely with RBW to create a system that responds naturally to architecture while remaining highly adaptable to a wide range of interiors.
The result is a lighting platform that prioritizes clarity, proportion, and versatility, giving designers the freedom to create installations that feel intentional at every scale.
